The Beacon Climbing Centre opened in 1994, and was brought to fruition on the tightest of budgets by two climbers and instructors who saw the desperate need for a large, decent climbing wall for the Llanberis area. Since then the self-built climbing wall has expanded into almost all the available space in the old Marconi building, and provides over 1000m² of happy climbing for all ages and abilities.
